Movement
It gives the feeling of movement. The brush strokes in the background create the idea of wind moving the colors. The hard lines and surfaces are steadfast and form a contrast with the background. They reinforce each other and together tell the story.
It was during the recovery from my depression in 2023 that I rediscovered my creativity and thus also developed this signature. I have since tried many different styles and techniques to continue to develop myself artistically. Nevertheless, I always came back to this characteristic style.
By painting these shapes and colors I try to translate my feelings and thoughts into images. I start with the background. This is created dynamically and intuitively after which I try to reflect the image and my feelings. The next step for me is to add colored blocks, then the frames and I finish with the stripes.
The title of the work gives a tip of the veil and lets the viewer think without revealing too much. I want people to feel the space to reflect on what they see and feel.
Commissioned: If desired, I can also make work in this style on commission. You indicate which color appeals to you, the desired size and where this work will be hung. Pick up or delivery: You can view or pick up work by appointment at my home in Geervliet. Within South Holland I can personally deliver work. Outside this region is in consultation and travel costs are involved.
